Finding A Wedding Photographer

Let’s think about this. You are a soon to be bride. You are in the process of planning one of the most important days of your life. It’s a day that will never be repeated again. The only replay you will have will be through the pages of your wedding album. You want that replay to be a wonderful memory of that day and not a reminder of the day’s mistakes, difficulties or problems. One of the most important things to consider is the personalities you will be working with.

As you begin the search for wedding photographers, quite honestly there are about 10 gazillion out there. So what is a bride to do? Well what is more important, a photographers portfolio or personality. As my husband Todd would say, “yes.” In other words they are both important. There are a lot of gorgeous wedding portfolios out there. There are also different personalities behind each one. The most important thing to do is meet your prospective photographer. Treat it like an interview except you are the one conducting the interview. Find a personality that you feel comfortable with. You want someone that you can trust with your special day. You also need to keep in mind that photography is like anything else, you tend to get what you pay for.

So begin your search and find the portfolio and personalities you like first and then consider the investment you are willing to make in your memories for your special day.

Kolbiaka Wedding

These are a couple of images we created a few weeks ago at Stone Mountain Park. Lindsay and Evan make a great couple. We showcased them back a few months ago for their engagement.

I love the building top in the background from a Stone Mountain Park building that has a chapel look to it. It would not be Stone Mountain without lots of rock. The first image was in the grape vines in the plantation.

Don & Lacey / Neverland Farms

Well, what can I say about the wedding this past weekend? Not enough great things, that is for sure! Lacey and Don make an adorable couple and were a blast to work with! These two could not have asked for a better day for their wedding at Neverland Farms in Cleveland, GA. The weather was gorgeous and the venue was spectacular too! Thanks for allowing me to share your special day. I hope you guys enjoy your photos! Our associate photographer Jessica photographed this wedding.

Jumping For Joy

We did a wedding at North Metro First Baptist Church. This is a great shot of the bridesmaids. We asked them to jump as high as they could. I love the way it turned out. The little flower girl on the end is my daughter and the bride is Whitney Smith, my best friends daughter. I will post more photos when the bride and groom return from their honeymoon. This wedding was a blast and I can’t wait to post more images.

Mike & Whitney’s Wedding

The one by the fountain is when they saw each other for the first time. Let me tell you this makes a tremendous difference in the number of bride and groom photos that can be taken at a wedding as well as calming the nerves for both the bride and the groom when they can have that special moment together. Although this location was pretty neat in that there friends where looking through the window excited and happy for them as they first saw each other. North Metro First Baptist has a wonderful inner garden and fountain area. The other image is a great image that I like to create by focusing on the flowers and letting everything else behind that go out of focus.

Nate & Hallie Make It Official! / Old Edwards Inn Wedding / First Presbyterian Church Highlands, N.C.

This is a wedding from this past Saturday in Highlands, North Carolina. Nate & Hallie. They got married at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Highlands on a beautiful warm Spring day in the mountains. The flowers were done by Kirk and Don at Oakleaf florist right in town and looked wonderful as always. Ms. Anne Tate was the consultant for the wedding and made sure everything ran nice and smooth. It was a gorgeous wedding. The colors were green and yellow and tied in very nicely with the decor of the church. Their reception was right next door at Old Edwards Inn on the rooftop. As the sun set, it made for a great location for an very intimate wedding reception. It was a real pleasure to photograph this special day for them. They made a beautiful couple. We wish you all the best Nate & Hallie!

Portfolio Shoot

No this is not Scott & Kayla’s wedding, but perhaps someday. Scott and Kayla modeled for us today. This was a scheduled photo shoot to create some portfolio images for advertising and magazine use. They did an awesome job for us. Thanks Scott & Kayla!!!

Saturdays Wet Wedding

It was a very rainy Saturday! We managed to get some great images and then about 30 minutes prior to the ceremony the bottom fell out! This beautiful wedding was at First United Methodist in Buford, GA and the reception was at the Civic Center in Gainesville. A little rain could not stop the beautiful wedding Sara and Tommy had planned. Take a look at some of the images from Saturdays wedding.
