You might ask what in the world does a bride have to do with a junkyard? Well not much, it’s actually quite a contrast. It’s the contrast that made this session so interesting and different. The difference between the clean beauty of a bride in her white dress against the roughness and dirt of a junk yard. This session is what we call trashing the dress in Atlanta. Most of the images did not focus on the trashing look but toward the end of the session that’s the look we were going for. These images were made after the wedding of course. take a look and see what you think.

Bridal Magazine

I still can’t believe this shot. It was 58 degrees out and a gray sky December day here in Georgia. As I took this I thought wow it looks almost like it could snow if it were cold enough. I asked our model to raise her hands and look up as if she was catching
some imaginary snow. Then I took the image into Photoshop and created this snowy day. Cool Huh!
Both of these images were taken on the same day. It was a gray sky day and the light was even and low and it was about 58 degrees out. Hot chocolate anyone!
What a great prop. I love to photograph old cars in a portrait. If you don’t recognize it this is an old Ford Thunderbird. What a beauty. It was restored to mint condition. Would love to have this as a prop at the studio but they wouldn’t part with it. Oh well.
Wish I looked like this at 18! What a beautiful model for the cover.
This session was done yesterday. It was a gray sky day. A day perfect for even lighting. The sky was just one big soft box like I use in the camera room but God has a better version than one we can make. This session was for two bridal magazines. Both magazines are related except one is in Georgia and the other is in Florida. These were done at a house in Chateau Elan. The blue sky was added as a photo merge from another image to make it look like a warm Florida day. We had the palms, rocks and water but just needed a blue sky with puffy white Florida clouds.

Election Day Bride
This was a fun bridal portrait shoot in downtown Atlanta. I was down on the ground shooting a very low angle so that I could get as much of the capital in as possible while leaving some room in the upper left hand part of the sky for the magazine logo. Folks were driving by and honking their horn and yelling out congrats to Christina. It is always quite funny because every time we go on location folks do that. Even some businessmen walking out of the capital were making fun comments. Parking was the only nightmare we dealt with.

Ashley’s Bridal / Chateau Elan Wedding Photography
This is an incredible sun set session at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia. This young lady is Ashley. Ashley and I had emailed each other back a few times and this is a session that I did this past Friday night. What I love about Ashley which I rarely see in other brides is a surreal, fairy tale look that she has. My daughter Samantha summoned it up well when she said that Ashley looks like a Disney Princess bride. I laughed and said honey, I am sure Ashley would have loved to have heard you say that. Enjoy the images!
Bridal Train
All aboard!! This is a young lady that we photographed at Stone Mountain Park last month. This beautiful dress was made by well known designer and wedding coordinator, Chris Davidson of Christophers, in Gainesville, Georgia. I have used the train car many times with children but never with a bride. Meredith jumped onto the train car for us as the sun was setting behind her and held on. I call this image, “Run Away Trane” Yes, I spelled that correctly. The bridal trane on the train. We will see what the judges think when it goes to the Professional Photographers of America print competition I entered it in. Great ad for Stone Mountain Park!

Varsity Restaurant Bride
If this image does not say Atlanta I don’t know what does. Everyone who passes thru Atlanta must make the pilgrimage to the famous Varsity restaurant. How about a bride and a burger! This is an image we were creating for a local magazine. Notice how warm and vibrant the image is. I love the color sky color against the warmth of the building and street lights. This image hung at a local bridal show recently.
Skyline Bride
This is probably one of my favorite images I have ever taken of a bride. This beautiful bride is wearing a dress by the well known designer, Ann Barge. We were asked by the editors of the Atlanta, Bella Weddings Guide to help create some images for the magazine. This shoot was in June and it was a blistering Atlanta summer afternoon. We had so much fun!
For quite some time I have wanted to do some personal assignments in downtown Atlanta with the skyline and finally decided to do it when Bella Weddings Guide told us of their need for some new Atlanta images. I was in the middle of the road on an overpass getting this image when as we were nearing the end of the shoot and an Atlanta fire engine came roaring over the hill. They scared the assistants and I to death as it went racing down the road with sirens and lights flashing! We ran out of the road in time, thankfully. Thank you so much Jan and Kristi, for choosing this image and the Piedmont Park and Stone Mountain Park images for your covers and giving us such a great opportunity.
